FINDING IFIELD VILLAGE

 
 

BY FOOT/ BY BICYCLE

From Ifield shopping parade on Ifield Drive turn right into Parham Road (by the Pelham Buckle). At the end of Parham Road turn Right into Rusper Road and then left into Ifield Street , where you enter the Conservation Area. Alternatively, go along Warren Drive (by the car park next to the Coop), take the second turning on the left into Ifield Green. Go along Ifield Green until you reach Rusper Road. You are now at another entrance to the conservation area.


From Ifield Avenue turn left into Ifield Green, cross over the bridge over the River Mole. The Conservation Area starts on your right at this point.  It does not start on your left until you reach the Edwardian cottages just beyond Strathmore Road.


There are of course numerous ways of approaching by foot - e.g. from Rusper over a network of public footpaths; from Bonnet’s Lane via a footpath near the track to Ifield Court Hotel.


BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Train

Ifield Station (Southern trains) is about 10 minutes walk to the South of the Conservation Area). Coming from Crawley or the North (Croydon/London direction) cross over the footbridge; if coming from the Horsham direction do not cross over the footbridge.  Walk ahead along Ifield Drive. Take the second turning on the Left into Rudgwick Road, then turn right into Rusper Road.  Take the next turning on the left into Ifield Street where you enter the conservation area.


Bus

No 2 bus from Crawley stops in Warren Drive at the end of the road Ifield Green.  From Warren Drive, turn right into Ifield Green. Walk along about 200 metres and take the first turning on the left into Rusper Road.  You will see the allotments and then the Village Green on your right. You are now in the Conservation Area.

No 526 from Crawley stops in Ifield Green. Alight at the Royal Oak.  You are now in the Conservation Area.

No 527 from Charlwood and Horley stops in Ifield Green.  Alight at the Royal Oak. You are now in the Conservation Area.


BY CAR

From the north

From the M25, Croydon or London, take the M23 to junction 10, and follow A23 to Crawley. At the third roundabout turn right into Ifield Avenue


…*go along Ifield Avenue, past two mini-roundabouts, past a 40 mph sign and past a substantial roundabout. Take the next turning Left into Ifield Green (more than 90 degree turn). Take the third turning on the right into Rusper Road…Park in the car park on the right on the edge of the Village Green or continue along Rusper Rd and take the next turning on the right into Ifield Street (Xlllth Church is signposted). Follow the road round behind the Plough Inn and park in the first car park, which is shared between the Village and the pub.


From the south

From Brighton and the south,take the A 23 and come off at the Crawley turning (do not carry on to the M23). Continue on the A23 and at the third roundabout turn Left into Ifield Avenue and then follow instruction as above.
